EXPEDITION SUMMARY

ʻEua is one of Tonga's best-kept secrets. Largely untouched, rugged, and real; it sits a few mins flight from Tongatapu but feels like a different world. Think ancient rainforest dropping into crystal-clear reef, humpback whales coming to birth and nurse their calves in the warm shallows, and reef systems so healthy and intact they'll make your jaw drop underwater.

This trip runs in peak season — October is prime. The whales are plentiful, the water is warm, visibility is exceptional, and the spearfishing on ʻEua's reefs is some of the best in the Pacific. We'll have a dedicated charter with skipper and guide across seven on-water days for our disposal to explore the deep blue.

HIGHLIGHTS

Ethical Whale Encounters

Five full days on licensed charter boats in Tonga's peak whale season. Guided in-water encounters with humpback whales in some of the most protected and biodiverse waters in the South Pacific.

Pelagic Life in the Blue

Eua sits on the edge of deep open ocean, creating rare access to pelagic encounters beyond the whale swims. The water here is world-class.

Ocean-front Wellness Facilities

Ice baths, spa baths, sauna, and a purpose-built oceanfront yoga deck to stretch, read a book, or have a chat when not swimming with whales.

Skill Development

Extended water time means that we can help you develop your skills in freediving, spearfishing, and/or underwater photography.

Your Expedition Host

Cindy Yang

Ocean Coach & Photographer

Spearfisher, megafauna guide, and underwater photographer with over 25 years reading open ocean environments. Cindy's approach to wildlife encounters is shaped by decades in the water: calm, deliberate, and built on deep respect for the animals and ecosystems she encounters. Tonga's humpback season and pelagic-rich waters are among the most extraordinary experiences the ocean offers, and Cindy's greatest joy is placing others inside that world for the first time, guiding them to move with intention, witness without interference, and leave with a connection to the ocean that stays for a lifetime.

Let's have a whale of a time!
